The Four Suits
SoulCollage® involves making your own personal deck of cards. A SoulCollage® deck includes one Source Card (symbolizing the Oneness of all things) and cards in four suits—the Committee suit, the Community suit, the Companions suit, and the Council suit. Below are descriptions of each suit with some examples from Rita’s deck.
The SoulCollage® process is flexible so you can also add your own suits. For example, also shown is a Trauma Suit. Anne Marie Bennett has an Unknown Suit for cards she has made where she isn’t yet clear about their meaning.
Do not be in a hurry to decide which suit a card belongs to. It can take time to know this. |
|
The Source Card
Every person is invited to create a card for the Source. The Source card represents the “oneness beyond dimension” or the “bigness of the Universe”. It is Mystery. You don’t have to make a Source card right away. It might take some time for the “right” images to find you. Source cards are all very different and very personal. |
|
The Committee Suit
The Committee Suit is for the exploration of your own inner voices or the inner parts of you. They should include parts you like and parts you don’t like (shadow parts). Examples include your critic, your artist, Miss Responsible, your gardener, starving baby, judge, joyful child, shy one, or one who listens to spirit. |
|
Card: Meditator Suit: Committee
I am the one who meditates and sits in stillness. I am the one who opens the energy centres in my body and lets energy stream through. I am the one who connect to the Cosmos, is fed by the stillness there, and comes home to my deepest self. |
|
The Community Suit
The Community Suit is for honouring the people and animals whose support and love make a difference in your life. They may be living or dead, personally known or not. Examples include friends, family members, a spouse, pets, a group you belong to, an author or artist who has touched your life, or ancestors. |
|
Card: Grandma Sozanski Suit: Community
I am the one who cherished you and called you my “melinke” (little one). I am one who is devout, enduring, and connected to the earth and my garden. I am the giver of food. I am the one who is a lover of beauty, who creates spiritual patterns on my Easter eggs. I am the one whose blood you carry. I am the one who brought your mother into the world to bring you into the world. I am the one who died on Easter morning, taking my basket to be blessed by the priest. |
|
The Companions Suit
The Companions Suit involves choosing an animal for each of your seven chakra centres. The qualities in your personal power animals are qualities that you might connect with, feel a deep affinity towards, or need more in your life. Examples include the bear, dragonfly, eagle, turtle, wolf, horse, swan, cat or any of the creatures on this planet. |
|
Card: White Horse—3rd Chakra (Solar Plexus) Suit: Companions
I am the one who runs with power, freedom, and abandonment. I am the one who is strong and listens to my own being. I am one who runs with physical strength, feeling the freedom of the wind in my mane. I am the one who knows who I am. |
|
The Council Suit
The Council Suit involves your archetypes and spiritual guides—the invisible guides, challengers, creators, destroyers, known across time and cultures by many names, yet being somehow universally in the collective unconscious of the human race. Examples are the Healer, Death, the Great Mother, the Fool, the One who
Seena suggests that we all consider creating cards for the Fool, the Sacred Witness, Gratitude, and Death for our Council suits. |
|
Card: Divine Mother Suit: Council
I am the one who holds you in my arms and snuggles you against my body. I am the one who knows you and is here for you. I am the one who is reliable and keeps you safe and secure. I am the one who awakens your open heart. |

Trauma Suit (An alternative or additional suit)
This suit is sometimes used to hold the cards about experiences of earlier trauma and reactions to it. |
|
Card: Living in Violence Suit: Trauma
I am the one who lives with the yells and screams and fighting. I am the one who is afraid someone will get hurt or killed. I am the one who is a terrified little baby. I am the one who lives with my mother’s depression and craziness in the middle of the violence. |
